The Full Day Ministry offers many different activities in the classroom as does the Half Day Ministries. Some activities include centers (writing, reading, home living, manipulative's, water/texture tub, and many more). This gives the children different things to explore and learn. They have freedom to choose which center to explore, which allows them to learn independence. The teacher uses structure in the daily planning so that all areas of the classroom are implemented.

There are group activities such as circle time, crafts, chapel, music, Spanish, etc. And then there is individual time such as one on one or small group activities. The children have free play time outside on the playground or indoor family center, as well as in the classroom. The children bring their lunch to class daily. After lunch they will have rest/nap time in the afternoon. After rest time they will be provided a snack. Then they will have recreation until pick up time.

Entrance Requirements

We consider the following criteria when enrolling and assigning a child to a classroom either for first-time enrollment or re-enrollment:

* Family assessment of the development level of the child
* Staff's assessment of the development level of the child
* Age of the child
* Availability of space

All registration forms must be completed prior to attendance. All deposits, tuition payments, and fees must be paid in full prior to attendance.

Registration
Registration Term begins: August 1st for full day students, and upon enrollment and ends July 31.

The registration fees pay for consumable supplies for the classroom during the year, field trips, and programs that are presented by outside resources.

Children under the age of three by September 1, in the full day program will advance in classrooms according to developmental progress. Students, who are three by September 1, will begin the full day three year old class and remain in that class until the school year ends in July. This will align your child with the public school placement law and is designed to keep children from repeating two years of the same group.

* Please note a child must be fully potty trained before entering a 3 year old class.

Tuition

The tuition is due and payable on Friday prior to the start of each week and if payment is not received by the following Monday, the child may not return to the program on Tuesday. There are no refunds for absences or holidays. In order to hold your child's place in our program you must make full weekly payments throughout the term of enrollment even if your child misses some days. Families will be allowed to pay half tuition twice during the school year if they are absent an entire week. The ONLY time that you are not responsible for weekly tuition is during Christmas Break & Spring Break, (these days are priced per day). In-service holidays are $35.00 for the day with the rest of the week's tuition prorated. Early release day rates are $10.00 per child each day in addition to weekly tuition. Withdrawal notice or changes in your child's enrollment need to be made in writing at least two weeks in advance. Otherwise, a fee of $25.00 will be assessed if we are not notified of any changes in writing at least two weeks in advance.

If your child is not coming, please call the school and inform the staff by 2:00PM. If a child is not present for pick-up from school, then the parents, and if needed the school, will be contacted to confirm the child's absence.

Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm.
Go to the Home page for directions to our facility. Click the link for a map.

* Please note that our staff is scheduled to leave each evening at 6:30 pm and it is imperative that you pick your child up by this time, not only for the staff's benefit but also for the child's. After 6:30 pm, a late fee of $10.00 for the first 15 minutes and $5.00 for each additional 5 minutes will be charged to your account. In the event that a child is not picked up by 7:15 pm and no contact made by the parent, the child will be released to the police.

Withdrawal
Withdrawal notice or changes in your child's enrollment need to be made in writing at least two weeks in advance. Otherwise a fee of $25.00 will be assessed if we are not notified of any changes in writing at least two weeks in advance.

Vacation Weeks
All full day and school age parents are able to utilize paying half when your family takes a vacation. This is available up to two weeks per calendar year. Attendance during vacation weeks is not considered vacation. Attendance from one to five days a week counts as a full week.

Dismissal Policy
In certain circumstances, it may become necessary for KCLC to decide to ask parents to make alternative arrangements for their child. Such a decision would be based on the interest of the child, the other children in the program and fulfillment of parental responsibilities. Every effort will be addressed before the final decision is made.

Inclement Weather
When Gwinnett County Schools close due to severe weather or circumstances, KCLC closes also. If this occurs during the school day, parents are responsible for picking children up from school. If severe weather prevents us from or delays our opening, information may be obtained by calling our voice mail system at 770-339-7386. If severe weather occurs during the program hours, our staff will follow emergency procedures. Should a disaster of any sort occur during program hours rendering our facility unusable, our primary Place of Refuge will be at Learning Time (across the street).

Signing In/Signing Out
No child will be allowed to enter or leave the building without being escorted by the parent(s), authorized agent, or KCLC staff. All parents are required to sign your child in and out with the appropriate PIN number that your family has been assigned. If the person picking up the child is unknown to the staff, picture identification will be required. No child will be released to a person who appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol or under any circumstances that could endanger the safety of the child.

Car Pools
Parents are responsible for setting up their own car pools and notifying the Director in writing of the arrangement. You must send a written note to KCLC if another child is coming home with your child or your child is going to a friend's home. No child will be allowed to go with an adult unless that adult's name is on the Emergency Information Card in the KCLC office. Please come by the KCLC office to confirm or add a name.

Field Trip and Transportation
Children are transported to field trips on the FUMC bus. Children are supervised at all times while being transported and safety rules are enforced. All children are secured with seat belts and we observe child car seat laws. The bus drivers have cell phones and can obtain assistance from KCLC at any time.

Field trips provide a broad range of experiences to children. For children that are four and older, it is part of our program to experience the community for which we live. These trips are carefully planned and appropriately supervised. Prior to a field trip, an authorized person will be asked to complete a permission form. If you do not wish for your child to attend the trip, please notify the teacher so we can make alternative arrangements of care for your child. All children must wear a KCLC t-shirt on field trips.
