istock 000007128259xsmallThe Half Day Program offers many different activities in the classroom. Some activities include centers, such as writing, reading, home living, manipulatives, water/texture tub and many more. This gives the children different things to explore and learn. They have freedom to choose which center to explore, which allows them to learn independence. The teacher uses structure in the daily planning so that all areas of the classroom are implemented.

There are group activities such as circle time, crafts, chapel, music, Spanish, etc. There is also individual time such as one-on-one or small group activities. The children have free play time outside on the playground or indoor family center, as well as in the classroom.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
When Gwinnett County Schools close due to severe weather or circumstances, KCLC closes also.  If this occurs during the school day, parents are responsible for picking children up from school.  If severe weather prevents us from or delays our opening, information may be obtained by calling our Voice Mail System at 770-339-7386.  If sever weather occurs during the program hours, our staff will follow emergency procedures.  Should a disaster of any sort occurs during program hours rendering our facility unusable, our primary Place of Refuge will be at Learning Time (across the street).

HOLIDAYS
The Full Day Ministries follows the Gwinnett County School calendar regarding holidays.

CHILD ASSIST SERVICE / HALF DAY STUDENTS
Our "Child Assist Service" is available for your convenience to help get your child to the classroom. You will be given a color-coded sign for your car to be used at drop-off and pick-up times. Please place the sign in your passenger-side dash. Beginning at 9:25 am, there will be a staff person stationed outside to receive your child. That person will open and close car doors, and the children will be assisted to their classroom by staff in the building. Teachers will greet children at the classroom doors. Please give last-minute instructions and kisses before reaching the drop-off point.

If you are later than 9:40 am in dropping off your child, you MUST escort them into the building and to their classroom. NEVER drop off a child unless a staff member is present outside.

Dismissal will begin at 12:25 pm and KCLC personnel will again assist your child to your car. If you are later than 12:40 pm picking up your child, you MUST come into the building for them.

We ask all parents to check seats or belts for secure fastening. KCLC will not be held responsible for children who are not safely buckled in their seat.iStock 000014668368XSmall

CAR POOLS
Parents are responsible for setting up their own car pools and notifying the Director in writing of the arrangement.  You must send a written note to KCLC if another child is coming home with your child or your child is going to a friend's home.  No child will be allowed to go with an adult unless that adult's name is on the Emergency Information Card in the KCLC office.  Please come by the KCLC office to confirm or add a name.
